Clinician Peer Support Program Online Module

It is recognized that our clinical team members are repeatedly exposed to primary and secondary trauma from the many challenging aspects of our jobs. Peer support is an effective way to offer short term 1:1 support to process experiences, connect to resources, and to foster a culture of wellness within our teams. The Clinician Peer Support Program allows for team members to connect with other colleagues that may be outside of their team, but who are in a similar role. This level of support provides confidential listening and support with someone who understands what you are going through from personal experience. To become a peer supporter, clinicians must complete the online modules as well as a 1.5 hour long live training session. The online module covers the fundamentals of secondary trauma and the skills of peer support: introduction, invitation, active listening, reflection, deepen inquiry, reassure and support, and resources.

2. Review the key skills of peer support via simulation
3. Understand the foundational conceptions of secondary trauma and how interventions such as peer support can help mitigate this
