Overview
Scarcity of resources has become a hot topic amid the current pandemic. We will discuss scarce resource allocation - how to do it in a way that is both fair, ethical and considers risks to the organization as well as the individual providers.

Objectives
  1. Contrast decisions made in a time of scarcity with decisions made normal circumstances.
  2. Differentiate the two kinds of scarcity.
  3. Analyze the impact upon patient safety when the criteria of allocation are activated.
  4. Determine when conditions of scarcity begin to impact patient safety.
  5. Describe how established process in times of scarcity prevents added liability.
