Overview

The Human Factor of Sepsis; What Every Team Should Know is a comprehensive review of Sepsis, Severe Sepsis, and Septic shock. This presentation is a platform to discuss the identification and best practice treatment of the septic patient that leads to positive patient outcomes. It will also discuss the humanizing factors that impact patients that have been diagnosis with sepsis and its lasting effects.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Analyze patient indicators, symptoms, and results based on CMS SEP-1 guidelines for early identification of a progressing sepsis diagnosis.
  2. Apply CMS SEP-1 Sepsis best practices of care leading to the stabilization of the patient condition.
  3. Use the sepsis order set to identify proper treatment plans for the septic patient leading to positive patient outcomes.
  4. Recognize and discuss the impact of post sepsis syndrome symptoms on patients and their families.
