Overview
This event is designed to enhance competence by equipping clinical professionals with a clearer understanding of the ethical, clinical, and regulatory challenges of NRP in organ donation.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Analyze the ethical and clinical controversies surrounding Normothermic Regional Perfusion (NRP) in organ donation, including its implications for the Uniform Determination of Death Act (UDDA) and the Dead Donor Rule.
  2. Evaluate the risks and benefits of NRP from both a clinical and ethical perspective.
  3. Develop strategies to ensure sound ethical decision-making and policy development regarding NRP.
  4. Learning Outcome - Participants will be able to critically assess the ethical and clinical implications of Normothermic Regional Perfusion (NRP) in organ donation and articulate its potential conflicts with existing legal and ethical standards, including the Uniform Determination of Death Act (UDDA) and the Dead Donor Rule.
  5. Learning Outcome - Participants will demonstrate an improved ability to apply ethical reasoning in clinical decision-making by evaluating case studies of NRP implementation and identifying key factors that influence patient care, organ procurement practices, and policy development
  6. Learning Outcome - Participants will integrate evidence-based best practices into their professional roles by formulating strategies to address knowledge gaps, mitigate ethical risks, and support the development of institutional policies that ensure the ethical and safe use of NRP in organ donation.
