Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Ability to demonstrate simulator use for diagnostic bronch module, and for EBUS module
  2. Demonstration of airway exam and identification of anatomy, return demonstration using clinical simulation performing difficult airway interventions (intubation, tracheostomy, video assisted laryngoscopy)
  3. Basic management understanding and simulated demonstration of bronchoscope (not suctioning, causing trauma mucosa, oxygenate)
  4. Increase understanding and return simulation demonstration of samples acquisition technique,BAL, brushing, washing, needle, forceps. EBUS basics
  5. At the end of the workshop they will be able to have completed 20 bronchs for diagnosis and 20 for EBUS anatomy identification
  6. Increase understanding of Informed consent (risks, benefits)
  7. Increase understanding of therapeutic bronchoscopy basics
  8. Increase understanding of Advanced bronchoscopy: brief overview of EMN
  9. Learner should understand basic concepts of troubleshooting: peak pressure, plateau, auto peep, ventilator asynchronies
  10. Learner should be able to manage a patient with severe ARDS and understand strategies in patients with ventilator problems.
  11. Learner should be familiar with basic mechanical ventilator circuit and set up
  12. Learner should know different modes of mechanical ventilation
  13. Increase understanding of tracheostomy, including set up, complications and documentation
  14. The learner will demonstrate central line, arterial line, Swan Ganz, I/O insertion.
  15. The learner will verbalize the contraindications and complications of central line, artline and IO insertion
  16. Identify arteries and veins for vessel cannulation and recognition of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) I
  17. Identify hemothorax, pneumothorax, and lung consolidation
  18. Identify the components screened during the Extended Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma (E-FAST)
  19. Identify cardiac pathologies including, but not limited to, hypovolemic and cardiogenic shock, LV failure, RV failure, cardiac tamponade, pulmonary embolus, severe valvular regurgitation
  20. Identify and acquire the following cardiac views: parasternal long axis view, parasternal short axis view, apical four chamber view, apical two chamber view, subxiphoid four chamber view, and subxiphoid inferior vena cava (IVC) view
