Description: Are you conscious of your unconscious bias? Can you recognize unconscious bias in our everyday life? The word of healthcare is ever evolving from the medications we use, to the patients we treat, to the environment we practice in. Part of being a competent provider also requires us to be self-aware and reflect on our practices to ensure that we continue to provide the best care possible to those we serve. Join us as we discuss the role implicit bias plays in the medical community and ways you can acknowledge and address this in your practice. Title: Implicit Bias and the Healthcare Professional Objectives: 1. Identify and Understand what unconscious bias is and how we display this in our everyday lives. 2. Identify and understand the unconscious biases that exists in healthcare. 3. Learn to identify your own unconscious bias and how that can affect you as a healthcare provider.
