An introductory course covering the Bone Marrow Transplant process for adults including the pre-testing, the infusion of cells, and the management of side effects.

1. Review core concepts of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
2. Describe the process of allogeneic donor selection and HLA typing.
3. Describe the course of hematopoietic stem cell transplant to include pre-transplant phase, stem cell collection, and peri-transplant phase.
4. Discuss the complications of HSCT
5. Describe follow up care required for the patient after hematopoietic stem cell transplant.

Instructions

The Bone Marrow Transplant Class requires the completion of a homework assignment prior to attending class. The homework consists of reading policies, watching videos online and watching presentations developed by the BMT team.  This homework can either be completed at work or at home (internet and a computer that has access to Insite is required). The homework should take no longer than 6 hours to complete.

If you are completing this homework at home, please clock your time into API so you are paid for your study time.  (Please make sure you do not accumulate overtime while completing this assignment).

If you are completing this homework at work, but outside of your scheduled shift, be sure to clock in as Education (84).
