The Corewell Health 2026 Behavioral Health Symposium is an annual opportunity to gain knowledge and expert insight on current behavioral health topics, including ethics in telemedicine and AI, mental health, substance use, personality disorders, social media impacts on youth, suicidal ideation, chronic disease management, mental health care for children, the School Blue Envelope Program, sports psychiatry, behavioral health integration in primary care at CHE, and physician and APP fulfillment. This will be a one-day hybrid conference (virtual/in-person at the Corewell Conference Center) aimed at healthcare professionals, both internal (system-wide) and external.

1. Identify core ethical principles and professional guidelines (e.g., APA, NASW, AMA, HIPAA) that apply to the use of artificial intelligence and telemedicine in behavioral health practice.
2. Identify both the positive and negative influences of social media on youth mental health.
3. Differentiate at least two ways in which sports and performance psychiatry diverges from general psychiatric practice.
4. Understand the scope and impact of chronic suicidal ideation
5. Describe the structural and functional brain differences observed in patients with borderline personality disorder (BPD) compared to healthy controls.
6. Identify patients that are utilizing Kratom and meet criteria for OUD
7. Define what the community collaborative program approach is: School & Collegiate Blue Envelope
8. Recognize the unique challenges healthcare professionals face that increase their risk of burnout, depression, and other mental health conditions.
9. Identify the challenges of parenting in the 21st century and contributing factors to the parent mental health epidemic
10. Describe the Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) model and its application within academic primary care practices at Corewell Health East.
11. The relationship of chronic disease on behavioral health.

Corewell Health West Michigan is accredited by the Michigan State Medical Society to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
